High-efficiency nano polishing of steel materials

Abstract The application of a specific rheological polishing slurry is proposed first for high-efficiency machining steel materials to achieve high-quality ultraprecision finished surfaces. rheology the was explored show that non-Newtonian medium with certain parameters content components exhibits shear-thickening behavior. Then new nano approach applied process spherical surfaces bearing steel. Several controllable such as shear rheology, abrasive data, rotational speed, and processing time are experimentally investigated in this process. A special finding surface roughness material removal rate can increase simultaneously when small size due thickening mechanism during shearing flow slurries. Excessive abrasives decrease quality uneven agglomeration particles scratching surface. Under optimized conditions, high-accuracy 12.6 nm roundness 5.3 ?m achieved after 2.5 h. Thus, potential method target obtained study.
